Carolina™ Exploring Air Pollution Generated by Fossil Fuel Combustion Kit

carolina
Students learn how to measure the concentration of air pollutants generated through everyday activities and compare their results to the EPA's National Ambient Air Quality Standards. Exercises require students to calculate the mass of air pollutants added to the atmosphere by each point source and to identify which produces the most air pollution. In addition, they learn how the Pollutant Standards Index and Air Quality Index are calculated and how they relate to human health.

The Classroom Kit accommodates 24 students working in 8 groups of 3 students each; it contains 8 each of the 3 gas detector tubes and 8 syringe pumps.

The Demonstration Kit contains one each of the 3 gas detector tubes and one syringe pump.
